Meet Hedgar Barerra
Elgin Community College (ECC) student Hedgar Barerra of Carpentersville, Illinois, was named the Vice President of the Asian Filipino Club this past year. Barerra began at ECC in 2022 and was encouraged by his friends to join the club and start coming to campus for student life events.

Umberto Tinajero, an instructor of Industrial Manufacturing Technology (IMT) and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) at Elgin Community College (ECC), started his journey at ECC 24 years ago when he first came to campus as a student in English as a Second Language (ESL) courses.

Meet Mariana and Paola Gomez Garcia
Twin sisters Mariana and Paola Gomez Garcia, students at Elgin Community College (ECC), have led ECC’s student club, the Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS), for two semesters now. Although identical twins, they appear as opposites sitting behind their club table or out at a student life event, but they are on their academic journeys together.

ECC Celebrates 10th Anniversary of the Education and Work Center in Hanover Park
Elgin Community College (ECC), in partnership with the Village of Hanover Park, Harper College, and community partners, celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Education and Work Center (EWC) on Thursday, October 10. The event took place from noon to 4:30 pm at the EWC, located at 6704 Barrington Road in Hanover Park.
ECC Marketing and Communications Department Earns 17 Awards from NCMPR
Elgin Community College’s Marketing and Communications team received 17 awards at the 2024 National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 3 Conference for excellence in print design, digital, video, photography, and communications.
