At ECC's Workforce Development Office, we offer a variety of resources to meet your business needs. Whether you want to access local talent, invest in employee development, or improve your business, we can help. We also provide convenient venues for off-site continuing education.

ECC offers resources and support for students unsure about their career path or needing guidance to begin. Through our business partnerships, we facilitate access to training for high-demand jobs. Our services include free assistance with job searches, valuable advice, and referrals to programs to facilitate workforce reentry. Our experienced staff is available to help you explore programs that offer funding for tuition, books, supplies, and more.

Continuing Education

Many adults with no college credit or some credit can advance at ECC by completing a certificate program. This can increase their earnings potential in a current field or help them transition to a new career. You can earn some certificates in as little as one semester. Our Continuing Education Department offers various popular, high-quality, non-credit classes.

Future Workforce Leaders Program

Elgin Community College’s Future Workforce Leaders Program offers training and financial support to eligible individuals aged 16 to 24. The program allows you to explore various career paths while working toward a high school equivalency certificate. You can also earn an occupational training certificate or gain hands-on experience in your preferred field.

Integrated Career and Academic Preparation System (ICAPS) Program

With ICAPS, you’ll work towards earning a State of Illinois High School Diploma while improving English, reading, or math skills. Additionally, you’ll gain a valuable certificate.

We offer free reemployment services, youth services, continuing education classes, and corporate training. It's one of the most in-demand services offered by ECC. This free job coaching and job search assistance service is open to everyone in District 509.

Taking Back the Trades Program

Taking Back the Trades program allows high school students to explore skilled trades professions and gain hands-on experience. This initiative aims to remove obstacles and promote practical, real-world education, ensuring fairness for all participants. Students will obtain valuable credentials and establish connections with industry professionals.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) at ECC

Elgin Community College, Kishwaukee College, Waubonsee Community College, and workNet Batavia have partnered to offer job skills training services through WIOA. Through this collaboration, WIOA-eligible adult unemployed or underemployed workers in Cook and Kane counties can qualify for funding to cover training expenses for in-demand careers. Funding can cover tuition, books, supplies, and other services needed to help you complete your program.
