Steel Band Ensemble

Experience the excitement and color of steel drum performance. This energetic ensemble explores calypso, reggae, rock, and related styles, combining infectious rhythms with rich melodic playing. Students grow as musicians while collaborating in a lively, welcoming setting that celebrates the joy of making music together. We have a Beginner Steel Ensemble (MUS122) for those new to playing pan drums or wanting to refine their skills or an Advanced Steel Ensemble for those wanting to enhance their skills.

The Beginner Steel Ensemble is open to all adults as well as college and high school students. Students may choose to participate in the choir earning college credit (enrolling in MUS122) or for personal interest (enrolling in our Continuing Education option CSX122). To enroll in the Advanced Steel Ensemble (MUS222), students must have successfully completed MUS122 or have consent from the instructor. Both ensembles are offered each fall and spring semester.

Ensemble Registration Information 

Students may earn college credit by enrolling in ensemble classes (MUS) or the continuing education (CE) class option (CSX). Before you register for classes, complete the admissions application. The steps to complete the process differ for credit and continuing education students. Remember, students who have not taken classes at ECC for more than two calendar years must reapply for admission.
