This four-hour, in-person CPR/AED certification course provides essential life-saving training for health care professionals, including BNAs, dental assistants, EMTs, paramedics, and other medical personnel. Participants receive hands-on instruction in recognizing cardiac and respiratory emergencies, performing high-quality chest compressions, delivering effective ventilations, and safely using an automated external defibrillator (AED) in accordance with current certification standards.

Through guided practice scenarios and instructor-led demonstrations, you will build the confidence and skills needed to respond effectively during emergency situations in both clinical and public settings. Training includes:

  • Adult, child, and infant CPR techniques
  • AED operation and emergency response procedures
  • Choking response and airway management skills
  • Team-based emergency response practices
  • Scene safety awareness and communication techniques
  • Hands-on practice with instructor feedback

This course is ideal for individuals working in health care settings or students preparing for clinical experiences. You will gain practical knowledge that supports workplace readiness, patient safety, and compliance with professional certification requirements.

Upon successful completion, students receive an American Heart Association CPR certification card. This class also meets the CPR requirements for Elgin Community College Health Professions students, ensuring compliance with program enrollment and clinical participation requirements. The course is appropriate for both first-time certification and renewal needs.
