Membership Status

  • Provisional

These members have not completed 12 college-level credit hours and/or have not demonstrated a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25. These members will be inducted once those requirements are met. Provisional members are encouraged to participate in chapter activities and may work towards fulfilling requirements for the membership status they wish to obtain.

  • Standard

These members have met the minimum requirements for membership. They are not expected to participate in any society activities after they have been inducted but will be encouraged to do so. They will receive a membership certificate, card, and pin; the Phi Theta Kappa stamp on their transcripts and diploma; and are entitled to wear the gold stole and tassel at graduation at an additional charge.

  • Enhanced*

In addition to the above, these members have committed to actively participating in chapter activities. Your benefits include the same as the standard membership and may include the following:

    • free gold tassel and stole if you participate in the graduation ceremony
    • eligibility to apply for travel subsidies to conventions
    • hold leadership positions
    • increased competitiveness for scholarships

Specific details related to the enhanced membership program will be explained at a new member orientation.
