SWANS (Students for Wellness, Acceptance, and Non-discrimination Society) establishes a welcoming space where individuals feel free to express themselves mentally, emotionally, and physically without fear. The organization promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion at Elgin Community College and local schools. Through various educational initiatives, SWANS actively informs students about LGBTQ+ issues, addressing topics such as hate crimes, political challenges, acceptance, tolerance, HIV/AIDS awareness, and stereotypes. By fostering an atmosphere of support, SWANS creates a culture that values diversity, advocates for equity, and champions inclusivity.
