ECC Tuition Waivers

GED Tuition Waiver

Open to students in the district, successfully complete a GED class at ECC, and successfully pass the GED test. Students are eligible for free in-district tuition for up to three (3) credit hours of college credit. Use within one year from the date requirements are completed.

English as a Second Language Tuition Waiver

Open to students successfully completing ESL 019, ESL 099, or the college's Intensive English program. Students are eligible for free for up to three (3) credit hours of college credit. Use within one year from the date requirements are completed.

Honors Course Tuition Waiver

Open to students who earn an A or B in an honors course and maintain a 3.25 or higher cumulative grade point average. Students may use the Honors Course Tuition Waiver for their next honors class. Waivers are issued upon successfully completing the honors class and are valid for one year from the issue date. This waiver is for tuition only.

Illinois Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver

Senior Citizens who are ages 62 and over at the start of the term may receive a 50% reduction in tuition. To receive the discount, senior citizens must present a photo ID in person at the Student Accounts Office, Building B, Room B151.

Senior Citizens who are 65 years of age or older by the start of the term may be eligible for a full tuition waiver of in-district tuition if they are under a specific income level as outlined in the Senior Citizen Courses Act (110 LCS990)*. To apply for this waiver, senior citizens must complete this Senior Waiver Application 2024-2025 DOCX and present it to the Student Accounts Office. Senior citizens who are ages 65 and older can continue to receive the tuition discount of 50% if they do not qualify for the full tuition waiver or do not wish to complete the application.

Senior citizens are still responsible for all lab fees, course fees, and an enrollment fee for both the discount and the full waiver.
