External Applicant Instructions

Applying for a job

  1. Go to the ECC site where vacant positions are posted.
  2. Click on the job title that interests you. Then click "Apply now."
  3. Enter your email address and click "Next." (If you have already created an account on our new system that went live January 28, 2019, enter the email address and password previously used).
  4. Complete all required pages of the application and press "Submit."
  5. You will receive an email to confirm your application as well as status updates related to the jobs(s) to which you applied.

Important: The email address on your applicant profile is our primary means of contacting you. Please make sure to supply an accurate email address. Click "Update profile" on the applicant portal to make changes.

Logging into applicant portal

  1. Go to the ECC job site and click on "SIGN IN HERE."
  2. Enter the email and password linked to your profile.

Please note: You can update your applicant profile at any time by clicking "Update profile" when you are logged into the applicant portal.

Subscribing to job alerts

  1. Go to the ECC job site and click "SUBSCRIBE TO JOB ALERTS."
  2. Identify the position types and/or work locations that interest you, so you can be notified via email when a posting at Elgin Community College matchies your criteria.
  3. To update your job alert, follow the same process to overwrite your previous selection(s).

Please note: You can update your applicant profile at any time by clicking "Update profile" when you are logged into the applicant portal.

Viewing the status of your application and/or Updating your information

  1. Log into the applicant portal. See instructions above, if needed.
  2. Applications you have started or submitted will appear.
  3. Take action on your applications using the buttons provided. Actions available depend on the status of your application and the posting to which you applied, and may include the ability to complete your application, withdraw your application or update your application.
  4. Menu options also allow you to update your profile or resume, or to change your password.
