ECC alum Shelby Anne Taylor, ’21, former Observer editor-in-chief, earned 3rd place in the Story of the Year Feature Writing category of the Pacemaker awards from the Associated Collegiate Press. The Observer is Elgin Community College’s student-run newspaper.

Additionally, the Observer’s website took eighth place nationally for Best in Show in the two-year school division. The winners were announced on October 28 at MediaFest 2022, a national college journalism conference in Washington, DC.
