For many of us, e-learning occurs amidst busy work schedules, family priorities, and other challenges. ECC delivers a high-quality academic experience for students enrolled in online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses to meet all students' needs. We connect students to on-campus support services and student life programming through Campus Central, D2L, Remote Hub, and Social Channels.

Strategies to thrive in your online classes

  • Successful online students excel at setting their priorities and sticking to a schedule that helps them focus on what’s most important. Getting organized at the start will save you time later and reduce stress throughout the semester.
  • Think of the discussion board in your online class as the main part of the classroom. Practicing good online etiquette means following certain rules for online behavior.
  • Success in college (and in life) mainly comes from consistently working toward the goals we set for ourselves. Stay curious about your studies, and let that curiosity help you overcome tough times.

What Support and Resources Are Available for Online Learning?

Many student support services, such as academic advising, tutoring, and wellness services, are accessible remotely, eliminating the necessity to visit the campus. Explore our support services.

Chromebooks are available for checkout at the Library. If you need it for classes at ECC, let us know at circdesk@elgin.edu.

If you need Wi-Fi for your studies, learn more about affordable or free wi-fi options for students.

Is an Online Degree or Certificate Right for Me?

Starting an online program gives you the flexibility to switch back to a traditional degree path or add in some in-person classes if your learning preferences change. At ECC, we provide choices, such as online, hybrid, and in-person classes, so you can pick the learning style that fits you best. If you’re unsure if an online program is the right choice, try a couple of online classes or take a free Study Skills Survey from the Online Assessment System for Internet Students.
