ECC student athlete Maile Fuller
Elgin Community College (ECC) student athlete Maile Fuller has come to love how easy it is to talk to people and connect with them.
“It is such a social school. There is always something going on,” Fuller said.
Fuller, who plays first base for the ECC Women’s Softball team, came to ECC because it was the most affordable option and close to home. She is thankful for her scholarship to play softball while attending ECC.
“I would recommend ECC to anyone. Even if they don’t live close, it is so worth it,” Fuller said.
Fuller, in her last semester at ECC, is eyeing the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to pursue a finance degree.
Read a bit more about Maile below!
What is one thing you do outside of ECC? I like to golf. Green Valley in Hanover Park is a cheap driving range; it is super pretty. I actually work at TopGolf, so that was why I started golfing.
What is one of your study hacks or habits? I come to campus to study, and I feel like I am able to focus more. I like to work in spurts, so I will work for 15 minutes, then take a break.
What is one thing that really makes your day? Being surrounded by people I love, or when the playlist plays all the good songs! It is a good day.
What did you want to be growing up? A marine biologist, I loved sea animals.
What is your favorite spot on campus? The Spartan Lounge. I like to people watch, and the background noise is nice for studying too.
Would you like to give a shout out to any ECC staff, faculty, or peer? Melanie Schaefer, of course. She is always the first person I go to talk to.
What advice do you have for new students? Make a connection with your professors because it helps with being in communication with them, and it lets them know you are putting forth the effort. It will help in the long run.
