ECC student-athletes Enzo and Carter Novelli
Elgin Community College (ECC) student-athletes Carter and Enzo Novelli recognize what a privilege it is to represent ECC on and off the field.
After attending Larkin High School, where they both played on the baseball team, the Novellis chose ECC because it was close to home and was the most affordable option.
In addition to being on the Larkin High baseball team, the Novellis earned their Spanish Seal of Biliteracy.
“We are super grateful to our parents for supporting us through everything. We are so thankful for them from high school and now,” said Carter Novelli.
Carter is pursuing an associate in arts while at ECC and hopes to continue to a four-year university to study kinesiology and physical therapy. Enzo is also getting an associate in arts degree, but is looking forward to studying marketing and sports management.
“We are still looking at schools, but taking both athletics and academics into consideration,” said Enzo Novelli.

Find out more about this duo below!
What is a study hack or habit? Carter: I use the whiteboard. It works! I write it until I can’t forget it.
Dogs, cats, or houseplants: We have a goldendoodle named Finn.
What is one thing that really makes your day? Carter: Coming and getting to see the guys at practice. It is a grind, but it is fun to be around everyone and go through something together. Enzo: Even if it is hard, you are going through it with 30 other people, so you share that experience and you become brothers. Working towards one goal!
What is your favorite thing to cook or eat out? Enzo: Pasta, our dad is Italian.
What surprised you about ECC? Carter: How much the professors care. I had a really great anatomy professor, Charles Dukarian. That experience with his class, I wasn’t expecting to get such a great professor. All of them, really. Enzo: The people who I have run into who come up to me and say, “Hey, do you play on the team?” They say they want to come out and watch us. How many people on campus want to support the team.
What advice do you have for new students? Carter: Don’t get behind, especially for online classes. If you slack off or let things pile up, it is really hard to get back on track. Enzo: Go experience new things, don’t just do online classes, come to campus, and do something.
