Starting college later in life was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was nervous to begin this journey at first because I was balancing school, family, work, and everyday responsibilities, but ECC gave me the confidence to believe in myself. I wanted to show my children that it is never too late to learn and work towards a goal. I wanted to show them that hard work does pay off.

Along the way, I was fortunate to meet incredible professors who offered solid advice or insight and encouragement when I needed it most. I am especially grateful for teachers like Dr. Nicole Scherger and so many others at ECC who genuinely cared about their students and pushed us to succeed. Their support helped me realize I am capable of more than I originally believed.

This experience became even more meaningful because it inspired my husband to join me on this journey. I am proud to say that we are both graduating from ECC this semester together! During my time here, ECC also encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone and pursue my creativity by starting my own business and releasing a coloring book on Amazon.

ECC gave me much more than an education. It gave me confidence and direction. I would absolutely recommend Elgin Community College to anyone looking for an opportunity to grow, challenge themselves, and discover what they are truly capable of achieving.
