Elgin Community College (ECC) and Western Illinois University (WIU) are partnering to establish a new academic pathway program. Students will be able to make a seamless transition from ECC’s Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice to WIU’s bachelor’s degree program in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration (LEJA).

This partnership allows ECC students to transfer directly into the program, available both on campus in Macomb and fully online.

"Elgin's AAS degree structure makes for a great transition into a bachelor's degree," said Kassie Daly, associate director of admission and director of transfer services at WIU. "Many criminal justice articulated courses and multiple general education requirements are included in the agreement."

The new pathway was developed through collaboration between WIU LEJA Director Jamie Johnson and ECC.

“At ECC, we’re committed to making the transfer process as seamless as possible for our students,” said Tracy Vittone, director of transfer services at ECC. “Partnerships like this one with WIU ensure that students can build on the education they’ve already earned and continue their path toward a rewarding career without losing time or credits.”
