Chrystie Wojcik, professor of culinary arts and hospitality, has been at Elgin Community College since 2010. She first came to ECC’s campus years before as a student!

“When I was a student here, that was when I knew I wanted to teach” she said.

After graduating from ECC in 2002, Wojcik spent more than eight years in the industry, putting herself in roles where she could teach and share her passion with others. She applied for a position in the culinary department and continues to enjoy her time here.

Peek inside her office to learn more about this animated culinary artist!

What is the theme of your space? The theme of my space is student work and things that we will do in certain classes, so that I can show them off. I save stuff, specifically summer, like this is what we did all summer. We did the figurines, which is the first module. Day one, we learn that. I switch stuff out, some of it is saved for students to take home because you can't take it home when it is 900 degrees outside.

What is your favorite thing in your space and why? My favorite thing is the Ratatouille poster. It is from one of the ECC police officers. They had it rolled up for a long time and they said it belongs here.

Where is your snack stash and what is your go to? My snack stash is in the top drawer, right now it is David Bars and pistachios.

Do you listen to anything while you are working? Fav music or podcasts? I listen to music! I have a playlist of songs, it is mostly ’90s music.

What office supplies are you obsessed with? Erasable pens, I love them!

What is something unexpected on your desk? I made a blanket, I have a space heater, and a heated vest. I am always cold. I highly recommend the vest, 900 stars!
