Everyone’s favorite ogre takes the stage at the ECC Arts Center’s SecondSpace Theatre this summer with ECC Musical Theatre’s production of Shrek The Musical July 25-August 3, 2025.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning adventure that brings all the beloved characters to life and proves there is more to the story than meets the ears.

An unlikely hero finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wise-cracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek!

ECC Musical Theatre’s production of Shrek The Musical is directed by Cale Haupert with Musical Directors Marc Beth and Douglas Orlyk.

“At the heart of Shrek The Musical is a truly beautiful love story,” Haupert shared. “Shrek thinks there is no one in the world who would care for him, but he slowly discovers that he can find true friendship and more when he is brave enough to show the world his true self.

The show is going to look spectacular, and being in the SecondSpace Theatre, it’s going to be a more intimate experience. Come for the spectacle and stay for a truly beautiful story of self-discovery!”
