There's a new face around campus! Spartacus, Elgin Community College’s newest mascot, joined our campus community this fall. SpartaCat, ECC’s original mascot, gracefully handed over the position, ready to head into a much-deserved retirement.
Hailing from Elgin, Ill., Spartacus is pumped to bring his high energy and spirit to ECC’s student body and the local community. Get to know some of your new mascot's hobbies and interests below!
Dogs, cats, or houseplants? In the spirit of my predecessor, cats! 😊
What’s your favorite spot on campus? That’s a tough one! There are so many amazing spots to choose from here at ECC. If I absolutely must choose, I’d say the Jobe Lounge is my favorite spot on campus. There are always so many students hanging out or enjoying student life or academic events taking place. I love the positive energy our students bring to that location!
What’s one thing that really makes your day? Putting a smile on someone's face.
What’s one place you dream of traveling and why? I would love to travel to Sparta, my hometown. I haven’t been back since I was a little kid! Sparta is an ancient Greek city-state in the southeastern Peloponnese region of Laconia. Other than visiting home again, I’m a huge sports fan! Take me out to any field or stadium, and I'll be in my happy place.
What's your favorite meal to cook or eat out? I’ll take a Chicago-style hotdog and a side of fries any day of the week.
Shout out an ECC staff member or peer! I’m still getting to know everyone on campus, so everyone on ECC’s campus! I’m here to support and cheer each one of you as you work hard to achieve your academic goals.
