Elgin Community College student Michael Hall interacts with many faces on campus as a student worker for the café and cafeteria and a member of Gamer’s United, a student club on campus.
“Gamer’s United is honestly really fun,” Hall said. “I’ve met most of my friends there, and it’s a great way to learn about the community. It’s very welcoming.”
As Hall continues to make his way through his classes at ECC, he’s landed on majoring in psychology, switching from an interest in law, which he claimed is “soulless, and if you go to enough courts in life, you realize humanity has no morals, and they’ll do anything to get the upper hand.”
Hall doesn’t have a set graduation date but intends to transfer to Northern Illinois University after he completes his time at ECC. Learn more about a familiar ECC face, Michael Hall.
Share one thing you do outside of ECC. In high school, I learned blacksmithing, and I taught myself. I made my own forge, and now I just make knives for fun. It’s set up in my backyard, and I’ll take it apart every so often, depending on the weather. It’s really fun.
What’s your favorite spot on campus? The Jobe Lounge, specifically the corner near the outlets.
What’s one thing that really makes your day? Coffee. I have to drink at least five cups to stay awake long enough to do my job here. I have a few creams at home that I like, and here, I usually make a mocha with caramel sauce, whipped cream, and a little extra espresso.
What’s something you’re binge-watching now or that you’d recommend? Right now I’m watching “The Boys” and “Invincible.” I’d highly recommend both.
What’s your favorite meal to either make or eat out? Probably burgers. It’s a classic, and you can’t go wrong.
