Applying to college can seem daunting. Do they really need ALL this information? Yes, they do! Here are three tips to ensure your application process goes as smoothly as possible!
Apply as early as possible
Applying early will ensure there is enough time for the registration process to take place. As you are applying, understand any deadlines or documents that might be needed. If you are a transfer student, you’ll need to submit an official transcript and that can take between seven to 10 business days once the request has been placed. If you would like to apply for any scholarships or need financial assistance, be sure to note those deadlines and requirements. Some programs also have registration deadlines to consider.
Completely fill out the application
By submitting a complete application, the registrar will have all the information they need. Some examples of information that will be needed would be your full name, birthdate, and proof of residency. Missing information, no matter the importance, could result in delays in the processing portion of registration. Once you get notice that ECC has received your application, it will still take 24-48 hours for it to be processed. The admissions office will keep you informed on how it is going and once you are set, you can officially register!
Know what courses you want and need
Because you applied early (right?), you will be able to have the best odds when selecting the classes you’d like to take. Our academic advisors recommend you register as soon as possible! They say, “The earlier, the better. Don’t wait!” Registering early ensures you have the best chance of getting the courses you need and want. Setting up a meeting with your academic advisor can give you a leg up on what classes to take and when because some program courses that are only available during certain semesters, or they may have prerequisites. By having a clear plan laid out, it can make registering much easier.
