We are less than two weeks away from the fall 2024 commencement! It is a time to celebrate your graduation from Elgin Community College. This is an important step in your educational journey, and we want to be sure it is as smooth as possible!

Commencement will take place at Elgin Community College, located at 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Below is a list of things to consider before the graduation ceremonies on December 14, at 10 am, if you are a University Transfer student or 2 pm, if you are a Career and Technical Program student.

Wait, Do We Need Tickets?

There are no tickets required for family and friends at commencement. Please encourage guests to arrive early for the ceremony to ensure they are seated by the start of the ceremony. Do you have guests that are unable to attend in person? Both ceremonies will be live-streamed via ECC’s YouTube channel, Elgin Spartans

Where Should I Park?

The best places to park for commencement are the lots for Buildings H, D, G, F, or J. If someone in your family has mobility issues, there is a ramp on the Renner Drive side of Building J. Pro tip—have family drop you off at the entrance of Building H so you can check in while they park and get seated.

Check-In Time

Grads, please arrive at least an hour early for your ceremony. This will give you time to arrive, check in, get dressed, and line up with plenty of time. When you check in at the entrance of Building H, you will be given your name card with your place number. Do not lose this! Once you line up, the readers will go through the line to confirm pronunciation and wish you well.

The Ceremony

Promptly at 10 am or 2 pm, the ceremony will begin. The procession will start, and you will be led from Building H to the Events Center. Don’t forget to smile and wave for the cameras because ECC staff will be capturing this special moment. The ceremony will last about 90 minutes. If anyone in your party requires accommodation such as closed captioning or interpretation services, please fill out this form prior to December 14.

You Did It!

Congrats! You are officially an Elgin Community College graduate! After the ceremony, family and friends will be able to celebrate with you in the Building H Lobby. There will be light refreshments, photo backdrops, and more. Be sure to tag ECC on your social posts or use #ECCgrad2024! Your certificate will be mailed to you in a few weeks.

Elgin Community College is proud to be a part of your educational path. We are so proud of you! Be sure to reach out to the Alumni Office to stay connected with ECC as you continue to learn and grow.
