Jeff Hunt, a music adjunct faculty member, began teaching at ECC nearly 20 years ago. What’s kept him here all these years? The students. “I have great respect and admiration for anyone that enters my classroom,” said Hunt. “I have always felt the student population at ECC carries a special determination for success and achievement.”
Before ECC, Hunt worked for his family’s business, Northfield Block Company. Over the years, he's directed the St. Charles Singers and the music program at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles, which he continues today. Read on to learn more about the man behind the piano! In another life, he’d be a little more handy around the house, but in this one, he’s a Law and Order junkie.
What would you choose if you could instantly be an expert at one thing? I have two thumbs and am not handy at all, so I covet anyone who can fix a leaky faucet or repair a light switch. Sad but true :)
Where is the best place you’ve traveled, or where is somewhere you dream of going, and why? Cambridge, England. I’m a choral geek, and Cambridge is the land of choral music. I have been lucky to make some wonderful, long-lasting friendships with friends and choral colleagues who live in and about Cambridge.
What was your first job? I cut grass for St. Charles Park District.
Binge watcher, book club, or both? Although I love reading, I am mostly a binge-watcher these days. I think I have seen Law and Order episodes at least twice by now.
What’s one thing that really makes your day? My choirs! I am fortunate to conduct a beautiful and meaningful phrase of music.
