My time at Elgin Community College was a life-changing experience that I will always treasure. I’d never reflected on the past two years here until I was asked to write this essay. I’ve realized that during this period, I had the wonderful chance to get to know new people, form connections with them, and discover more about my education and myself.
As a dual credit student, I thought college would have been challenging, especially since I was younger than most students. Despite my age, Student Life made it easy for me to get involved on campus, which is how I have created some of my favorite memories. I was fortunate to join the Asian Filipino Club and eventually rise to be the president of the club. The club taught me a lot about my identity and who I am.
Despite the similarities and differences, I experienced a strong sense of community and belonging at ECC. I appreciate the chances ECC gave me to establish these relationships. I want to express my gratitude to all of the ECC students, employees, and professors who have contributed to the success of these last two special years.
