This week, take a five-minute break to learn a little something extra about Vincent Gaddis, PhD, professor of history. Gaddis just passed his one-year mark as an ECC faculty member, having previously taught at Benedictine University. But Gaddis is no stranger to ECC, having been a guest speaker for several presentations and lectures on campus for the past 15 years.
What should your colleagues know about your position at ECC? That as historians, we teach the critical reading and writing skills that are key in all fields. We also give students a historical framework to better understand their present context.
Where is the best place you’ve traveled, or where is somewhere you dream of going, and why? My two favorite destinations so far have been Vietnam and South Africa. I dream of going to Brazil and Kenya.
What was your first ever job? Paperboy.
What is your favorite meal to cook or favorite dish to eat out? I like cooking ribs, brisket, or tri-tip.
If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why? Martin Luther King Jr., because he is my intellectual hero.
