Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo brings its internationally beloved all-male troupe to the ECC Arts Center on Saturday, January 31, serving up a dazzling mix of virtuosic pointe work and riotous parody of classical ballet favorites such as Swan Lake

Founded in New York City in 1974, the company, affectionately known as the Trocks, began with late-night performances in off-off-Broadway lofts, winning devoted audiences with its irreverent humor and formidable technique. Over the past 50 years, the Trocks have become a globe-spanning phenomenon, performing in more than 43 countries and 667 cities, while also engaging communities through programs that spotlight every essential element of their art: the personas, the technique, and yes—the wigs.

Once considered boldly subversive, the world’s foremost gender-skewing comic ballet company now thrives in a cultural landscape that embraces its approach for what it truly is: sheer, joyous entertainment.

Beloved by seasoned ballet aficionados and first-time audiences alike, the Trocks have been hailed as “a guaranteed hoot for people who know nothing of ballet and an absolute must for those who think they know the originals” (Sydney Star Observer).

Tickets for the 7 pm show are $45 for adults, $20 for children 12 and under, and can be purchased online at eccartscenter.org, in person at the ECC Arts Center Box Office (located at 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, IL, 60123, Building H), or by calling 847-622-0300.
