The dynamic father-son piano duo Ryan & Ryan will bring their unique blend of classical and contemporary music celebrating one of America’s greatest performers to the Elgin Community College (ECC) Arts Center stage on Saturday, February 8 at 7 pm with “Going Gershwin.”

The performance will be in the Blizzard Theatre in Building H on ECC’s Spartan Drive Campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Donald Ryan, a native of Trinidad & Tobago, came to the United States to study music, earning degrees from Oral Roberts University and the University of Tulsa. He is a well-known master of diverse styles, as evidenced by his diploma from the 9th International Chopin Competition and his induction into the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. He is one of the most distinguished Steinway pianists in the world.

Given his father’s profession, Barron Ryan’s choice of playing the piano is no surprise. He has been a prizewinner in numerous piano competitions, including the 2011 Oklahoma Israel Exchange Young Artists Competition. He has been a featured soloist at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, and numerous other venues.

As a performing team, Donald and Barron amaze audiences with their skill, expressiveness, and love for music-making together. Well-versed in classical, jazz, Ragtime, and funk, they create exciting new music and give freshness to beloved standards.

“Going Gershwin” will feature some of George Gershwin’s beloved songs, including “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “Porgy & Bess Fantasy for Two Pianos,” and “Rhapsody in Blue.”

Tickets are available at eccartscenter.org/tickets or by calling the ECC Arts Center Box Office at 847-622-0300.
