Elgin, Ill. — [October 30, 2025] — Elgin Community College (ECC) earned two honors at the 2025 Elgin Image Awards, celebrating individuals and organizations whose efforts make Elgin a better place to live, work, and learn.
ECC’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society was recognized in the Game Changer category for its leadership in advancing student success and community engagement through volunteerism, scholarship, and service. The student organization has led initiatives supporting local food pantries, tutoring programs, and sustainability projects, demonstrating ECC students’ commitment to making a lasting impact.
In the Professional Rockstar category, Bill Angelo, ECC’s head baseball coach, received individual recognition for his leadership of the baseball program and dedication to student-athlete development. Angelo is recognized for mentoring players on and off the field, emphasizing academic achievement, sportsmanship, and service, and elevating ECC’s visibility through competitive play and community engagement.
The Elgin Image Awards, coordinated by the Elgin Development Group and Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce through the Enhancing Elgin Committee, have celebrated community excellence since 1992.
