ECC Students Reach Top Transfer Destinations

Elgin Community College continues to serve as a strong foundation for students pursuing a baccalaureate degree. In 2024, ECC students most frequently transferred to Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Illinois State University, and Aurora University. Transfer Partnerships Our innovative university partnerships help students transfer into programs at other institutions.

Since 2021, the ECC/NIU PLEDGE program has graduated 90 future educators through NIU’s Elementary Education teacher-licensure program with Bilingual/ESL endorsement which is offered right on ECC’s campus. The program boasts 100% retention, and over 50 graduates are already teaching in Illinois classrooms. ECC also partners with University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign through the Engineering Pathways program. Since 2022, 16 students have completed the program and secured guaranteed admission to the Grainger College of Engineering. In order to be eligible, students must complete a prescribed engineering program of study at ECC, earning a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and all A’s and B’s in required technical courses. ECC’s Transfer Services offers support and resources for students planning to continue their education beyond an associate degree. This includes building partnerships with baccalaureate institutions, hosting transfer events on campus, and coordinating campus visits to many of ECC’s top transfer destinations.

Upcoming fall 2025 events include State Universities of Illinois Transfer Day (October 15), UIC Transfer Day (October 28), and fall campus visits to NIU and UIC.
