A student learning in the ECC CDL program
CDL Training at ECC: Support for Spanish Speakers
For students interested in a career in commercial truck driving, ECC offers a comprehensive CDL (commercial driver’s license) training program and support is available for Spanish speakers. While the official training is presented in English, ECC provides a strong foundation for Spanish speaking students to get started, with bilingual staff, Spanish-language information sessions, and personalized assistance throughout the admissions process.
The ECC CDL program includes classroom instruction and hands-on driving experience totaling 320 hours. Students gain the knowledge and skills needed to pass the Illinois Secretary of State CDL exams and launch careers in a high-demand industry. Because federal regulations require all CDL drivers to read and speak English for safety and compliance reasons, the instruction and exams must be conducted in English. However, ECC helps bridge that gap with Spanish-language guidance at every step before training begins.
Spanish-speaking students can attend information sessions in Spanish, meet one-on-one with a bilingual coordinator, and receive help navigating forms, registration, and financial aid options. For those who need it, ECC can also connect students with ESL (English as a second language) resources to help them build confidence before beginning CDL training. Whether you’re just exploring the idea or ready to take the next step, ECC’s supportive team is here to help you prepare for a rewarding new career.
