ECC's Truck Driving Program

Elgin Community College (ECC) is inviting prospective students to learn more about its Truck Driving Program. Information sessions scheduled for the 2024-25 academic year will begin Tuesday, September 10, from 4 to 5 pm at 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, Ill., Building O, Room O134.

Attendees will learn the requirements for earning a State of Illinois Commercial Driver’s License, how to apply and enroll in the program, and what to expect.

The program prepares students for a career in the trucking industry by providing comprehensive training in driving skills, map reading, trip planning, log keeping, vehicle systems, cargo handling, and more.

ECC offers two program options to cater to different student needs:

  • 8-week CDL Program: Truck-driving students can get trained and on the road faster.
  • 16-Week Program: Offers a more in-depth learning experience for students who require additional time.

“We are committed to providing our students with the highest quality education and training,” said Todd Anderson, director of ECC’s Truck Driving Program. Our s320-hour program, which exceeds the requirements of many other colleges and for-profit programs, ensures that our graduates are well-prepared to succeed in the trucking industry. The more hours we spend with our students, the more we can provide a learning environment that functions at a safe, steadier pace, giving them the experience necessary to feel ready to be on the road as truck drivers.”

ECC’s truck driving program boasts a 100% licensure pass rate, demonstrating the effectiveness of its curriculum and training methods.
