Elgin Community College announces the grand opening of the Center for Financial Empowerment & Wellness, home to the newest KCT Credit Union location on the ECC campus, with a celebration planned for Wednesday, July 19, from 3 to 5 pm at the Renner Academic Library, Building C, at 1700 Spartan Drive in Elgin.
The event, open to the public, recognizes the partnership between ECC and the KCT Credit Union, which serves students, employees, and community members. A ribbon cutting with the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce will take place at 4 pm, along with remarks from State Senator Cristina Castro, KCT Credit Union President/CEO Mike Lee, Deputy Director at Illinois Office of the Comptroller Bola Delano, and ECC President David Sam, PhD, JD, LLM.
“The opening of the Center for Financial Empowerment & Wellness at ECC is the culmination of years of collaboration between the college and the credit union,” said Sam. ECC’s decade-old financial literacy program has reduced the number of students taking loans and the amount taken by over 80 percent. The presence of KCT on campus will further help students become financially empowered before they leave ECC. And many of our employees will also benefit from the services provided by KCT. Welcome to ECC!”
RSVPs are not required for this event; attendees are encouraged to come and go as they can. The event will include a taco food truck, light snacks and refreshments, and raffle prizes.
Guests are encouraged to use Parking Lot B, located in front of Building A, off Spartan Drive, as parking is limited around Building C. Signage will help guide guests to the event.
