2023 - Acclaimed female acapella group brings Zimbabwean music and culture to ECC

The Elgin Community College Arts Center presents the all-women acapella quartet Nobuntu on Saturday, October 28, at 7 pm, in the Blizzard Theatre on ECC’s Spartan Drive Campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, Ill.

Nobuntu hails from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and brings energy, rich voices, and inventive performances that range from gospel to traditional Zimbabwean-rooted songs to Afro-jazz and authentic dance movements. Only using minimal percussion and traditional instruments, Nobuntu represents a new generation of young African women singers who celebrate and preserve their culture, beauty, and heritage through art.
