The Elgin Community College baseball team had four individuals earn All-Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) honors. Nik Panico (pitcher) headlined the group as a First Team designated hitter selection. Luis Rodriguez (outfield) was named Second Team as an outfielder with Adrian Ruiz (pitcher) and Derek Angelo (catcher) earning Honorable Mention status as a pitcher and catcher, respectively.
All-Conference recipients were selected before the beginning of post-season play. Panico holds a .586 slugging percentage and a .471 on-base percentage. He registered 39 runs on 35 hits, including nine doubles, three triples, and six home runs. Panico is tied for 12th in the region in home runs and is 18th in slugging percentage.
Rodriguez leads the team in on-base percentage (.508) and stolen bases (13). He ranks second in batting average (.357) with a .957 fielding percentage. Rodriguez is ninth in the region in on-base percentage.
Ruiz leads the pitching staff with a 2.38 earned run average in 34.0 innings with 41 strikeouts. He is 4-0 this season with one save.
Angelo holds the team-high in putouts (162) and doubles (10). He ranks second in hits (42) and third in batting average (.350). He ranks 25th in the region in putouts and holds a .962 fielding percentage. On Friday, the Spartans concluded their season at the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 4 Baseball Division II Tournament Sectional.
