Elgin Community College Senior Director of Performing Arts Tommy Hensel will receive the Chicago Cabaret Presenter Award at the Chicago Cabaret 2022 Gala at the Epiphany Center for the Arts on Monday, October 17.
Hensel has more than 30 years of working professionally as a director, actor, and arts presenter. He began at ECC as the Senior Director of the ECC Arts Center in February 2022. Hensel sits on the board of North American Performing Arts Managers and Agents (NAPAMA), an organization dedicated to promoting the best interests of performing arts agents and managers through leadership, professional development, and alliances in the performing arts industry. A 14-year resident of Chicago, he also is a writer for “Your Chicago Guide,” where his primary focus is reviewing restaurants.
Chicago Cabaret Professionals (CPP) is an alliance of advocates for the art of cabaret who have come together to promote public appreciation of cabaret. CCP members include seasoned and aspiring performers, composers, lyricists, producers, directors, writers, presenters, venues, and friends. Its mission is to promote the art of cabaret by educating performers, presenters, the media, and the public at large, encouraging the development of venues and new audiences, and encouraging the establishment of professional standards for performance conditions.
