Representatives from more than 150 colleges and universities will be at Elgin Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 12, to help students and families explore their options. The event is free and open to the public and will be held from 6 to 8 pm in Building J, Events Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Visitors should park in the red lot marked “J” and enter the college through the lobby of Building J.
Current college students, high school students, and other prospective students are encouraged to attend the event to learn more about the schools they would like to attend. It is recommended to register for the event in advance through app.strivescan.com/registration. After registering, attendees will receive a bar code that can be scanned by colleges, automatically adding interested students to their mailing list for more information about their school.
In addition to the fair, the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will present information on the financial aid process, eligibility for financial aid, and how financial aid can help pay for college. Two sessions in English and Spanish will be offered at 6 pm and 7 pm. The sessions will introduce students and parents to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid.
College Night is sponsored by the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling in cooperation with ECC and other area schools. For more information, contact ECC’s Admissions & Recruitment Department at 847-214-7385 or visit elgin.edu/collegenight to see a list of schools attending.
