Eight student-athletes from Elgin Community College have been granted National Junior College Athletic Associate (NJCAA) and Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) All-Region and All-Conference honors and honorable mentions for their performance in their fall season.
From the men’s soccer team, Jose Banuelos (forward), Kobe Frenette (midfield/forward), and Cesar Palomares (midfield/defense) earned NJCAA All-Region Honors. From the women’s volleyball team, Cassie Pitte (outside hitter) was selected to the ISCC All-Conference First Team.
From the women’s soccer team, captain Natalie McGinnis (midfield) was selected to the ISCC All-Conference First Team and Joana Mercado (goalkeeper) was selected to the ISCC All-Region Second Team. Players Kaley Kowal (forward/midfielder) and Guadalupe Sanchez (midfielder) were named Honorable Mention All-Conference.
“It’s a great honor for each student-athlete to accomplish being an All-Region and All-Conference player competing against outstanding competition,” said Kent Payne, director of athletics and wellness at ECC. “It’s an example each made in preparation and commitment to their team, coaches, and ECC.”
