Elgin Community College will host the next Bill Pelz Global Speaker Series of 2021 on Wednesday, April 7, at 2 pm. This webinar, titled “Seismic Shift or Status Quo? U.S. International Relations and Immigration in the Biden Era,” will take a critical look at the first movement on international relations in the new Biden administration.
This series is sponsored by the ECC Global/International Studies Team (GIST) and the Multicultural and Global Initiatives Committee (MAGIC). Featured panelists for the event are ECC President David Sam, PhD, JD, LLM; Recruitment Coordinator Luis Alacorn, MEd; and Associate Professor of History and Political Science Antonio Ramirez, MA.
“We are pleased to offer this virtual event to the ECC and District 509 community to talk about the international relations and immigration changes in the wake of a new presidential administration that will have local and global impact,” said Lauren Nehlsen, PhD, director of international education and programs and GIST co-chair. "Join the webinar to engage and discuss what’s unfolding, why it matters globally, and why it matters right here at ECC.”
The Bill Pelz Global Speaker Series is named in memory of the late William Pelz, PhD, who taught history and political science at ECC for over 19 years. GIST co-chairs, ECC professor Christina Marrocco PhD, and Lauren Nehlsen, PhD, will moderate the event.
