As a result of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s recent announcement to extend the state’s current “stay-at-home” order through the end of May, Elgin Community College will reopen its campus, to specific employees, utilizing a phased approach, beginning Monday, June, 1. In the meantime, Human Resources will work with supervisors to determine which employees will be required to work in preparation of the campus reopening date.

To limit the number of people on campus in the early phases and to further prevent the spread of COVID-19, certain employees, at the discretion of their supervisors, will be allowed to continue to work remotely. Please note that most academic, financial and student support services will continue to be offered remotely throughout summer.

The college will soon announce details of its plan to gradually reopen the campus, taking into consideration social distancing and expert guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Kane County Health Department (KCHD).

ECC is committed to preparing a safe environment for all employees, students, and visitors. Additional information on the college’s plan to gradually reopen the campus will be shared at the upcoming virtual all-college meetings for employees. More information on these meetings will be  sent to employees via email.
