Dear Colleague:
As mentioned in Dr. Sam’s all-campus email to students and employees earlier today, we remain committed to sharing updated information about COVID-19 and its impact on Elgin Community College. As a result of Governor Pritzker’s announcement to close all K-12 schools in Illinois through the end of March, the college has amended its plan for the overall health and safety of the entire ECC community.
As a result, ECC has taken the following actions:
Monday, March 16
- All ECC classes will be canceled. Academic, financial, and student support services will remain open.
- Faculty members will continue preparing for instruction in alternative learning formats.
- Staff and administrative employees should report to work for their regular work schedule.
- Decisions will be made on Monday, March 16, to determine work arrangements for critical staff and administrative functions for the remainder of the week.
Tuesday, March 17 to Thursday, March 19
- All ECC classes will remain canceled.
- Faculty members will continue preparing for instruction in alternative learning formats.
- During this time, employees and students will not come to campus, except for employees providing critical functions. Supervisors will notify these employees.
Friday, March 20 to Sunday, March 29
- All ECC locations are closed on Friday, March 20 and will remain closed until the end of spring break, Sunday, March 29.
Monday, March 30 to Sunday, April 5
- ECC is continuing to move classes to an alternative delivery format. Details to follow.
We want to remind you that this is a fluid situation that continues to evolve each day. Further information regarding the continuation of classes will be forthcoming. By working together, we will ensure safety for all and successful completion of the academic semester for ECC students.
