Search Process Steps
Our search for Elgin Community College’s next President is underway. The Board of Trustees identified Academic Search, a firm from Washington, DC, to facilitate our process. They have outlined a search process intended to conclude in December, with an appointment to begin early in 2025.
Below is a list of the work completed in the search process and detailed information for each task.
Consultants recruit candidates for President.
Position Announcement - Complete
Announce the position via approved media, such as the Academic Search Website.
- Search Committee Formation: Select committee members and agree on the schedule.
- Consultant Listening Sessions: Consultants hold listening sessions and meetings with stakeholders.
- Open Forum: Host an in-person community input event and an online survey for additional feedback.
- Board of Trustees Meeting: Decide on the search process’s openness and discuss recruitment, appointment, and candidate qualifications.
- Search Committee Organizational Meeting: Hold the initial in-person meeting of the Search Committee.
You will get an email with the Zoom link and password for your session. If you can't attend your Zoom session, you can join the Open Forum on Thursday, September 12, at 5:00 pm in Spartan Auditorium, Building G, Room G100.

Constituent Input Survey - Complete
Academic Search, an executive search firm specializing in higher education, has been retained to conduct a national search for the next President of Elgin Community College. The consultants will be meeting with various constituent groups to gather input prior to launching the search. This survey provides an alternative vehicle for providing input if individuals are unable to attend their scheduled listening session or would like to provide input anonymously. In addition, an open forum for all is scheduled for Thursday, September 12, from 5 to 6 pm in person at ECC’s Spartan Auditorium located in Building G, Room G100.
