Electric Horror: The Art and Design of Peter Infelise

Safety-Kleen Gallery, H100

Opening reception: Thursday, September 17, from 5 pm -7 pm

Light refreshments will be provided

Elgin Community College is proud to announce the opening of the exhibition, Electric Horror: The Art and Design of Peter Infelise, on August 14, 2026, in Safety-Kleen Gallery One.

Electric Horror: The Art and Design of Peter Infelise celebrates three decades of masks, monsters, sculpture, and graphic design by artist Peter Infelise. As the founder of the independent mask-making studio Devil’s Workshop, Infelise has built a distinctive body of work rooted in the colorful horror comics, monster magazines, novelty advertisements, and pop culture of the 1960s and 1970s.

The exhibition brings together hand-sculpted, limited-edition masks, original character designs, promotional artwork, packaging, and other graphic ephemera created throughout his 30-year career. Ranging from grotesque ghouls and wild-eyed creatures to bold, lurid advertising graphics, the work reflects Infelise’s fascination with vintage horror imagery and handcrafted production.

In addition to selections from the Devil’s Workshop catalog, Electric Horror features masks created for Trick or Treat Studios, Zagone Studios, Rock Bottom Novelties, Death Studios, Darkside Studios, and Nightmare Force, revealing the breadth and lasting influence of Infelise’s work within the mask-making industry

The exhibition will be on view through November 30, 2026, during our regular hours of operation, 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
