The Historic tradition of mariachi music originated in cities such as Guadalajara and Mexico City. As the ever-evolving genre’s influence spread, it reached Chicago and birthed the Mariachi Herencia de México. The 2x Latin GRAMMY®-nominated band has issued five chart-topping albums and has performed all across the North American continent paving the way for a new generation of mariachi musicians. For the first time ever, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra will share a stage with Mariachi Herencia de México for an unforgettable performance. This milestone event celebrates both ECC’s 75th anniversary and the ECC Arts Center’s 30th anniversary. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council and WDCB Jazz.
