Curious about how energy works and how we can use it more efficiently? Elgin Community College’s Energy Management program offers multiple pathways to prepare you for careers in this growing field.
Program Pathways Include:
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Energy Management
- Renewable Energy Option
- Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC/R)
- Basic Vocational Certificates in Renewable Energy
- Vocational Certificates in Energy Management
Through these pathways, you’ll gain hands-on experience working with solar panels, wind turbines, building automation systems, and more in the classroom and through real-world internships. This program teaches you how to reduce energy use in buildings while maintaining comfort. You’ll explore renewable energy technologies like solar and wind, and learn to troubleshoot heating and cooling systems.

How long does the program take?
Depending on the pathway, it can take approximately 1 to 2 years to complete a certificate or an Associate degree.

Yes, you’ll work with real equipment and complete internships to gain practical experience.

What certifications will this program prepare me for?
It depends on your chosen program. Energy Management offers two certificate options:
- Renewable Energy
- Energy Management
