Truck Driving Program Admissions
Procedures
You'll need the instructor's approval to enroll in the truck driving program at Elgin Community College. Our program involves training individuals to become commercial motor vehicle drivers, preparing them for the responsibilities and regulations associated with safely driving large vehicles for commercial purposes (CDL).
- Use the ECC Truck Driving Program Instructor Consent Request form to sign up for consent to take classes.
- Once registered for classes, you must pass The Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test and physical exam, a medical examination required for commercial vehicle drivers in the United States. The DOT regulations govern commercial motor vehicle drivers' use of drugs and alcohol. As such, Elgin Community College is required to conduct mandatory drug and alcohol testing of students in the truck driving program at specific times and under specific conditions.
- You must have a valid Illinois driver's license and an ECC student ID.
- Enrolling in BRG 101, BRG 201, and BRG 202 is mandatory to complete the program. Refer to the table below for information on class grouping.
