Step 2

New students need to bring:

  1. Photo ID (from the government).
  2. Medical Card if you get public assistance.
  3. High School Letter of separation documentation if 16 or 17 years old (for HSE classes only).

Step 3

Wait for your ECC student ID number in an email. You can find it online using the link below if you can't find it or have forgotten your ID.

Find your ID number.

Step 4

Please make an appointment to take a placement test at our testing center. You will also need to schedule a mandatory orientation if you are:

  • English as a Second Language (ESL) students
  • State of Illinois High School Diploma (HSE/GED) students

Orientation is required for all new students and will take 1-3 hours. For face-to-face classes, you’ll get a QR code, and online students will get instructions through D2L, our online learning platform.

Step 5

After orientation, you’ll get your class placement. Depending on your preference, you can then register for online or face-to-face classes. You can borrow a Chromebook from the ECC library if you don't have a computer.

  • ESL is available online or face-to-face
  • HSE/GED is available online or face-to-face
