Paid Holidays
Administrative Procedure 5.201
All Elgin Community College employees working half-time (20 hours per week throughout the year) or more on a regular basis and not part of a collective bargaining agreement or classified as adjunct faculty, are entitled to designated holiday leaves at their regular rates of pay. The College shall be closed on the following designated holidays and employees will be compensated for said holidays by classification:

- If any of the bolded holidays fall on a weekend, the College shall grant the preceding Friday or the Monday following the weekend as the paid holiday. If Independence Day or Juneteenth falls on Friday or Saturday, an additional Friday will be added to the summer schedule – no additional holiday pay will be granted.
- The holiday must occur on the day when an employee is actually scheduled to work in order to receive holiday pay. If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the employee must be scheduled to work on that day or on the day prior or preceding the holiday, as noted in #1 above.
- ECC reserves the right to add to this list of holidays without revision of this procedure if such holiday is mandated by federal, state, and/or local governments (i.e. Election Day). ECC will follow the same procedure for any additional holidays that are not listed but mandated.
