College Advisory Committees
Administrative Procedure 3.101
Elgin Community College encourages the establishment and participation of advisory committees for College-wide concerns, associate degree programs, and other special purposes. The President will be responsible for determining the appropriate committees, encouraging community participation, informing the Board of significant committee input, and responding to committee input.
The Vice President of Teaching, Learning, and Student Development is authorized to form and oversee four categories of College advisory committees.
Career and Technical Program
Promote quality career and technical education. Each Career and Technical Education credit program shall have an advisory committee. When appropriate, advisory committees may serve to inform multiple program areas. In addition, advisory committees may also be formed for non-credit programs when needed.
Special Purpose
Study program/function and make recommendations for the growth, direction, and linkage of program or function. Established at the discretion of the appropriate administrator.
University Partnership
Provide opportunities for ECC students to complete coursework on-site through applying additional ECC credits to baccalaureate degrees and dual enrollment for faster degree completion.
Transfer Advisory Group
Assist the Transfer Coordinator in identifying degree completion opportunities for AAS graduates. This group also suggests communication opportunities for transfer agreements, IAI and Compact benefits, and feedback on transfer successes of ECC students.
