D-Day will observe it’s 82nd anniversary on June 6th. D-Day is also known as the Allied Invasion of Normandy. The significance of the D-Day landings is that they represented a major turning point in World War II and allow us to reflect on those who gave their lives to guarantee the freedom enjoyed today. Less than a year after the invasion, the Allies formally accepted Nazi Germany’s surrender.

JUNE 14th is Flag Day!

Flag Day is celebrated by Americans on June 14 each year and commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States. “…the flag of the United States shall be of thirteen stripes of alternate red and white, with a union of thirteen stars of white in a blue field, represent-ing the new constellation.” Many Americans celebrate Flag Day by displaying the Red, White and Blue in front of homes and businesses.
