The Spartan Pantry believes that food is an essential factor in academic success. The Spartan Pantry supports ECC students, whether they're missing lunch or saving money for other expenses. Your income status does not matter; we welcome you with open arms!

Requirements

  • Be an ECC student.
  • Complete a short application and waiver for first-time patrons.
  • A student photo ID is required.

Donations

 Donate food, toiletries, household items, and school supplies at the Center for Student Experience, Building B, Room B173.

 Donate online or by check to the ECC Foundation with "Spartan Pantry" in the memo.

Food and Supply Donations

The Spartan Pantry operates two garden plots at Sherman Hospital, growing kale, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, onions, and potatoes. We typically keep the following items in stock but always want to refresh our inventory.

Bagged Items:

  • Instant oatmeal
  • Dried fruits
  • Potato flakes

Boxed Items:

  • Breakfast cereal

  • Hamburger Helper

Volunteers Wanted

The pantry is always seeking volunteers to help in the following ways:

  • Staff the pantry during open hours
  • Help with the inventory of donated items
  • Monitor food placement and expiration dates
  • Staff information tables in the Building B hallway
  • Volunteer at special pantry events

A partnership helps students support each other

ECC's Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society has been cultivating a garden plot at Advocate Sherman Hospital for over three years. Everything the students grow is donated to the Spartan Pantry.
