About the Talent Search Transitions Program
ECC provides academic, career, and financial counseling to participating students to help them graduate from high school and continue post-secondary education through the Talent Search Transitions Program. Funded by the US Department of Education, the program provides services to qualified middle and high school students who want additional guidance in navigating their paths and options.
Program Eligibility
The Talent Search Transitions Program serves students in grades 7 to 12. Talent Search is a federally funded TRIO program.
Middle school students must attend Abbott, Ellis, Kimball, Larsen, Carpentersville, Canton, or Tefft Middle Schools.
High school students must attend Elgin, Larkin, Streamwood, or Dundee-Crown High Schools.
Students must meet the following criteria:
- The student is a US citizen or a permanent resident.
- The family demonstrates financial need OR;
- The student is a potential first-generation college student (neither parent(s)/legal guardian(s) graduated from a four-year college or university in the US).

- Assistance in preparing for college entrance examinations
- Support in completing college admission applications
- Guidance in completing financial aid applications
- Tour colleges
- Workshops for parents/guardians
Steps to Apply
Please submit a complete Talent Search application, including additional verification documents, to be considered for the program. If the student is under 18, the guardian must help complete the application packet. You can submit it by choosing one of the columns below and completing its labeled steps:
