Hailing from ancient Mesoamerican cultures, Indigenous Mexican groups originally celebrated Dia de los Muertos to honor Mictecacihuatl, Queen of the Underworld. With the arrival of Spanish culture and the birth of the Mexican nation, this festivity was mixed with Catholic tradition. It became the Dia de los Muertos that we celebrate today in this display.

Carefully crafted by the Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) and volunteers, this display is open to everyone who would like to demonstrate the remembrance of a passed person who was dear to you. Feel free to visit and celebrate the lives of everyone who will forever be special to us! Once again, everyone is welcome to set up photos of their loved ones because death knows no culture, and love transcends life.

Located in Building B, B Hallway. Contact Student Life for more information.
